First of the Bareroot

Valorie and I visited family in the Los Angeles area over the holidays.  Our son John, who created this blog for us, lives in Sierra Madre right at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains.  It is a lush 1/2 acre with all kinds of seedlings popping up in unexpected places.  John insisted that I take some of these seedlings back to New Mexico to plant on the farm.  John dug them up and we placed them in a bag with several shovelfuls of compost and peat moss to keep them in good condition for the trip.

Our Bag of Goodies
